Lively agriturismo for families in idyllic Tuscany
The area in which this agriturismo is located, southern Tuscany, is one of my favorite regions and I visit it often. But every time I am still impressed by the beautiful views. Rolling hills everywhere with grain, sunflowers, forests, olive trees and vineyards, cypresses and authentic farms. As with this agriturismo, which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding Tuscan landscape due to its slightly higher location on a hill.
Typical Tuscan environment
Although you can still find plenty of peace and space here, there are also many nice and characteristic places to visit. One of my favorites is Pienza, known for its Pecorino (sheep cheese). The center of Pienza is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Montepulciano, famous for its wine, is also worth a visit. From the city wall you have beautiful views over southern Tuscany and Umbria. But there are also nice towns in the nearby Val d'Orcia, such as Bagno Vignoni, known for its hot springs. Also famous in this area is the Strada dei cipressi, a winding country road with countless cypresses on both sides, that goes from Pienza to Chianciano Terme. At the highest point there is a nice restaurant Dopolavoro la Foce, highly recommended for lunch, dinner or a cappuccino and a beautiful view of the road you have just driven.
To get to the agriturismo, you have to travel a kilometer of unpaved road, as is often the case in Tuscany. Once you arrive, you will find yourself in a small and characteristic Tuscan hamlet. You leave your car in the parking lot and your luggage is taken to your apartment with an electric cart. A quality service that avoids car traffic on the agriturismo grounds, so that your children can play safely.
Modern apartments in an authentic borgo
I was welcomed by the manager who offered me a delicious espresso in the Wine Bar. He explained to me the history of this resort, which emerged from the transformation of an old farm with more than 200 years of history. During the restoration work, everything has been modernized but using the original materials. What you will find today is a small, typical Tuscan hamlet with 14 apartments in a strategic position to visit some of the famous towns of Tuscany. You can reach Siena and Arezzo in about 1 hour and Florence is 90 minutes. It is also about 1 hour to Perugia in Umbria and within 45 minutes you can reach the beautiful Lago di Trasimeno.
Swimming pool with hydromassage
The swimming pool is spacious and also has a shallow area where children can play. There is also a hydromassage area. In the large garden surrounding the pool you will find sun loungers and pergolas for shade, where you can relax.
Tuscan breakfast buffet
For those who want to start the day with a good breakfast in the morning, you can enjoy a continental breakfast buffet on the terrace of the Wine Bar (upon reservation and for an additional fee). You will also find typical sweet and savory products from the Tuscan tradition and of course Italian coffees, various types of tea and fruit juices.
Wine Bar
As far as I am concerned, the Wine Bar is what makes the stay at this agriturismo extra pleasant. After breakfast, the bar remains open throughout the day and you can enjoy an espresso or cappuccino. Later in the afternoon, the bar is a meeting point for those who want to enjoy an aperitivo. In addition to typical Italian cocktails such as the Spritz, there are cold beers, various non-alcoholic drinks and a wide selection of local wines. Naturally accompanied by Tuscan meats, cheeses and local bruschetta.
Shared dinners
Also enjoyable are the shared dinners that are organized in high season on a terrace in front of the Wine Bar. Under cozy garden lighting you can enjoy two theme evenings every week: a barbecue evening with excellent local grilled meat accompanied by good wine and a pizza evening with various wood-fired oven pizzas. There is an informal atmosphere and children can play freely on this terrace. The reception will inform you about the costs and the day and when you can make a reservation.
14 spacious family apartments
In the agriturismo there are 14 family apartments, all with 3 bedrooms (quadrilocale) or with 2 bedrooms (trilocale), in Tuscan style with modern interior elements. All apartments are quite spacious and equipped with underfloor heating/cooling, dishwasher, washing machine, TV and WiFi. In addition, each apartment has its own private garden with table and chairs, allowing you to eat and relax outdoors. There are 2 apartments located on the first floor and they also have their own terrace downstairs.
In short
Agriturismo with 14 spacious apartments, ideal for families with children, who have plenty of space to play. Spacious swimming pool with a shallow end for the little ones.
In this agriturismo you can enjoy your apartment with private garden in complete privacy, as well as enjoy the company of other guests at breakfast, communal dinners or the Wine Bar.
