In the midst of flowering nature
An agriturismo is a small-scale farm that rents rooms, apartments, or both. You are staying in the countryside, surrounded by nature, which is at its most beautiful in springtime. Verdant hills, abundant wild flowers. The agriturismos usually open their swimming pools on the first of May. Some agriturismos have a heated pool, a jacuzzi or a spa. And then you can relax on your terrace. When we select our agriturismos, we also pay attention to the interior. The rooms must be cosy and comfortable, a place where you can relax if it’s a bit chilly at night.
Wonderful walks and cycling
The lovely countryside cries out to be explored on foot or by bike. Wander its country roads, stray through picturesque villages. Do you like cycling, but not in the hills? Some of the agriturismos rent out e-bikes. These are usually electric mountain bikes. Great for discovering the area without getting too tired! The owners will gladly show you how and where to rent e-bikes, and advise you on the most beautiful routes.
Enjoy seasonal produce
Italy is renowned for its fantastic food and wines. Some agriturismos have their own restaurant. Some even boast a wine cellar, where wine tastings are held. Of course you will find other restaurants in the vicinity. Italian restaurants predominantly cook using fresh seasonal products. Spring in Italy is the time for asparagus, tomatoes and courgettes. And seasonal fruit such as strawberries, cherries and apricots. The owner of the agriturismo will gladly recommend some restaurants to you.
Culture and shopping
There are other advantages to being in Italy in spring. The summer heat hasn’t arrived yet, and there are not that many tourists. Spring is therefore ideal for visiting famous cities near your agriturismo, such as Florence, Milan, or Rome. Take time for a delightful stroll, go shopping and relax over a cappuccino in the open air. No need to wait long to be served. It is also lovely to wander through the narrow streets of smaller villages.
